Set up your controller

Xbox and PlayStation controllers work in the browser without drivers. Here's how to connect one and pick the right layout for each kind of game.

Connect it

  1. Plug in with USB, or pair over Bluetooth in your computer's settings.
  2. Open the hub and press any button. Browsers only show a controller after a button press.
  3. The dot in the top-right corner turns green when it's ready.

GameSir, 8BitDo and other controllers

Many controllers have several modes: Xbox / PC (X-input), Switch, Android and iOS. On a computer, use X-input / PC mode and connect with a cable or the controller's own USB dongle. Over Bluetooth most of them fall back to Android mode, where buttons can end up in the wrong places.

  • Many GameSir models (Nova, Nova Lite, Cyclone 2, Tarantula Pro): hold View + Menu to change mode. A green light means X-input.
  • GameSir G7 and Kaleid models: hold Xbox + Share for 3 seconds to switch between X-input and Xbox mode.

Open Controls (F1) and press a button: the panel shows which controller is in use, warns you if it isn't in Xbox / PC layout, and lets you remap anything that is still wrong.

Remap buttons

Open Controls with the button in the bottom-right corner, or press F1 at any time, even during a game. Click a binding, then press the button or key you want. If that button was already used, the two swap places.

Stick drifting?

If your character moves without you touching the stick, raise the dead zone in Settings until it stops. Start at 15% and go up in small steps.

A game won't start or looks wrong?

The hub has two N64 emulators built in: ParaLLEl N64 (the default) and Mupen64Plus. No emulator runs every game perfectly, and some games work better on one than the other. If a game shows a black screen, freezes, crashes or has graphics glitches, start the room again and pick the other emulator under the game file. The hub remembers your choice for that game.

On Mupen64Plus you can also turn off Fast graphics in Settings, which fixes some effects such as in-game camera photos at the cost of speed.

Can't connect to a friend's room?

Turn off any VPN, use Chrome or Edge, and try again. Some workplace and school networks block the direct connection games need.
